VISA application and invitation letter
We can assist you to apply for the F type Chinese visa
by providing you an official letter, Invitation Letter of Duly
Authorized Unit. Since it takes about 1 month to obtain a complete visa
letter, please send us the complete visa application information of you
and accompanying persons before
October 15, 2017 either via the website or
email (email@example.com) if you need a visa letter. The information includes: Your name
(Full Name as it appears on your passport), Gender, Date of Birth,
Nationality, Passport Number, Scanned Passport, Affiliation, Address,
Contact information, Brief educational background and work experience
(Duration, Place and Position), Intended Entry Date and Staying Period,
and which Chinese Embassy/Consulate to apply for the visa. If you have
accompanying person(s), please also send us its(their) Name on Passport,
Date of Birth, Kindredness, Passport Number and Scanned Passport.
Student participants who need Invitation Letter of Duly Authorized
Unit, is required to provide us a letter signed by the supervisor
confirming students' participation to the conference. The letter could
be scanned and sent by email to the secretariat of SERS-2017 (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Individuals requiring an official letter of invitation
to attend the Conference should write to the Conference Secretariat.
This procedure is designed to assist participants who need to obtain a
visa or permission to attend the Conference and does not cover
registration fees or other expenses. The invitation does not imply
provision of financial or other support.
No responsibility can be assured for any kind of
personal accidents, sickness, theft, or property damage suffered by
conference participants. Participants are advised to arrange whatever
insurance they consider it necessary.
Currency and credit cards
The unit of Chinese currency is Yuan (or RMB/CNY). The exchange
rate is subject to market fluctuations. One US dollar is equivalent to
approximately 6.9 RMB as of March 19, 2017. Major credit cards
including VISA, MasterCard, and American Express are accepted at some
hotels, department stores and restaurants.
Tipping is not a part of Chinese custom. No tipping is
expected unless you are provided with extra service. It is not necessary
to tip a taxi driver unless he/she assists with luggage or provides

Time and Business hours
China is eight hours ahead of Greenwich Meantime.
Typical business hours in government and private offices are from 8:00
to 17:00 and closed on Saturday & Sunday. Most shops and banks are open
from 9:00 to 19:00 or later, and open seven days a week.
Xiamen is a subtropical coastal city. The temperature in
December is between 12 °C and 19 °C. The averaged precipitation
in December is about 27 mm. You are recommended to have summer dress and
bring umbrella with you.

Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport is the fourth largest air traffic hub
in mainland China after Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Daily direct domestic
flights are available from major cities, e.g., daily 13 flights from
Beijing, 21 flights from Shanghai, and 4 flights from Hongkong. In
addition, you can also go by direct flight to international destinations
such as Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore, Bangkok, Manila, and Kuala

airport to Xiamen University is ca. 42 yuan in the daytime and
ca. 55 yuan after 11:00 pm. For participants arriving at the
train station, you can take bus route 1 or 21 to Xiamen University (last
stop) and the taxi fee is around 16 yuan.
